Cassie Nelson joins the Marquette coaching staff in 2010 as a volunteer assistant coach.
The former Cassie Peller graduated from Marquette in 2008 as a very accomplished student-athlete, having earned All-BIG EAST honors in cross country in 2005 after helping MU to a Conference USA Championship as a freshman. Nelson was named the 2004 C-USA Freshman of the Year after her first year with the Golden Eagles. During her career, Marquette reached the NCAA Cross Country Championships in 2004 and 2005 and finished 28th and 29th in the nation, respectively.
On the track, she ranks in the top-10 of numerous events and helped the MU women in 2008 to its first BIG EAST Championship in the 1,600-meter relay along with Sarah Verdoliva, Kaitlyn Chambers and Katlin Millin.
