"Despite suffering from an illness that nearly held her out of the state competition in 2009, Ashley was able to hold on for a top-25 finish at the meet. She will add tremendous depth to our cross country/longer distance squad and will focus on events ranging from 3,000-10,000 meters."

Prior to Marquette: Ashley Sellers is expected to help MU in the longer distances after competing as a prep at Marist High School (Alsip, Ill.). Sellers was a 2009 conference champion in cross country on her way to earning the conference's athlete of the year award. Sellers also qualified for the state meet as a junior and senior and was named all-state in 2009. On the track, Sellers qualified for the state meet in the 1,600-meter run and was a member of the 3,200-meter relay, which also qualified for the state meet.
