VERONA, Wis. - The Marquette University men's and women's cross country squads recorded 13th and 12th-place finishes, respectively Saturday afternoon at the Wisconsin adidas Invitational.

"Overall despite the men's finish, I though they did pretty well, probably their best effort of the season," said head coach Mike Nelson. "It was not one of the better days for the women. Today was their worst performance of the year."

Junior Nick Szczech led the men in the 8k race with a time of 25:08 to finish 46th. Sophomore Blake Johnson ran a time of 25:31 to place 65th, while junior Brice Cleland finished 70th. Peter Bolgert and Connor Callahan placed 72nd and 73rd overall to round out the top five finishers for Marquette.

The Marquette women were led in the 5k by senior Jayne Grebinski, who finished 35th in 17:53. Fellow senior Anna Weber finished in 54th place in 18:15 and was followed by juniors Olivia Johnson (65th, 18:27) and Molly Arenberg (67th, 18:35). Marquette's fifth-place finisher was Kristin Pelzel who finished 72nd overall in 18:54, while Amanda Beggs and Maureen Keane finished sixth and seventh, respectively.
