Carroll and Sajdak Pace Cross Country at Wisconsin Open

VERONA, Wisconsin - The Marquette University men's and women's cross country teams competed at the Wisconsin Open on Saturday Nov. 8 in Verona, Wisconsin, with three members from both teams finishing in the top ten.

Freshman Meghan Carroll (22:30) led the women with a sixth-place finish overall. Sophomore Allison Parker (22:48) and senior Kenzie Vicker (23:25) finished eighth and 10th respectively.

Sarah Poirier (21st, 24:32), Erica Wanie (30th, 25:28) and Maeve McDonald (32nd, 25:43) rounded out the women for Marquette.

All five women competed in a 6k race at the Zimmer Championships Cross Country Course.

With a sixth-place finish, redshirt junior David Sajdak (26:44) paced the men. Junior Patrick Campbell (seventh, 26:52) and redshirt sophomore Ryan Shields (10th, 26:55) rounded out the men's top 10.

Brendan Franz (13th, 27:01) and Aric Miller (14th, 27:03) were among the top five finishers for MU. A total of 19 seconds separated the top five men while running the 8k.

The Golden Eagles continue the season in Verona, Wisconsin Friday, Nov. 14, running the same course during the NCAA Great Lakes Region Championships.
