MILWAUKEE — The Marquette University men’s and women’s cross country teams were tabbed to the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Association (USTFCCA) Division I Cross Country Team Academic Award lists for the eighth year-in-a-row for their work in the 2017 season.
The award recognized a total of 423 teams that reached a cumulative team grade-point average of at least 3.0. Of those 423 teams, 228 were women’s teams, while 195 where men’s squads.
The women's team registered a 3.59 grade-point average, while the men earned a 3.43 GPA for the season.
Dating back to 2009, it marks the ninth time in the last 10 years the Golden Eagle men and women have earned the award.
The New Mexico women and Portland men were honored as Team of the Year. To achieve the highest honor, each team had to be the top finishing team for their gender and have accumulated a GPA of 3.0 or higher during the 2017 season.
