MILWAUKEE --
The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced the Division I Cross Country Team Academic Awards, bestowing Marquette University's men's and women's cross country teams with academic honors for the 2015 season.

The award recognized 172 men's teams and 206 women's teams that registered a cumulative team grade-point average of at least a 3.0.

The Marquette women's team earned a GPA of 3.68, which was the 13th-highest GPA out of 206 qualified teams. The men's team netted a 3.35 GPA to earn a spot on the list as well.

Head coach Mike Nelson's squads have both garnered this award in seven of the last eight seasons, including six consecutive years dating back to 2009.

The New Mexico women and the Syracuse men were honored as the Division I Scholar Teams of the Year. To achieve the highest honor, each team had to be the top finishing team for their gender and have a cumulative GPA of at least a 3.0 during the 2015 season.
