Men’s Track and Field Announces Nine Newcomers in 2016-17

July 22, 2016

MILWAUKEE – The Golden Eagles are coming off their first BIG EAST Outdoor men’s track and field title and are looking to reload as head coach Bert Rogers and his coaching staff announced nine newcomers to the roster in time for the 2016-17 academic year.

“I’m excited about our class of recruits,” Rogers said. “This solid group will add depth to the team as we look to defend our BIG EAST Outdoor title and work toward winning indoors next year. The addition of a 7-foot high jumper in Daniel Armstrong will help fill the big hole left by the graduation of All-American Wally Ellenson.”

Armstrong highlights an incoming class that hails from five states. Last year, the Michigan City, Indiana native the state high jump title. The group also features seven distance runners that will compete for MU cross country head coach Mike Nelson

All will be eligible immediately and ready to contribute to a team that boasted 33 All-BIG EAST honorees and eight individual conference champions last year during indoor and outdoor action, combined.
