Alec Miller Earns BIG EAST Athlete of the Week

NEW YORK – Marquette University cross country senior Alec Miller has been named BIG EAST Conference Athlete of the Week after leading the Golden Eagles with an outstanding season opening performance on Saturday.

Miller earns his second career BIG EAST weekly honor after setting a career-best 6k time of 18:41.96 en route to a runner-up finish out of 72 athletes at the Flames/Flyers Challenge on Saturday. He led seven Marquette runners in the top-10 as the squad scored to a 6-0 head-to-head record against other competing teams at the meet.

The West Bend, Wisconsin, native was an All-BIG EAST honoree in 2016 after placing 18th at the league championship meet. Miller leads the Golden Eagles into Saturday's Vic Godfrey Open hosted by UW-Parkside at the Dannehl National XC Course in Kenosha.
