MILWAUKEE--The Marquette men's cross country squad opens the season ranked sixth and the women eighth in the preseason Division I Cross Country Regional Rankings the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association announced today.

The men return ten runners from a year ago including co-captains Drew Craig and Kyle Saginus and eight newcomers.

Meanwhile, the women return eight runners from a year ago, co-captains Jayne Grebinski and Amanda Beggs included, and welcome seven newcomers including two highly decorated transfers in Laurie Dalrymple (Tulane) and Olivia Johnson (Northwestern College).

The Golden Eagles opened the season with competition at the Big River Running Early Bird on Aug. 30 and at the NIU Huskie Invitational this past weekend. Both the men's and women's squads return to action at the Notre Dame Invitational on Oct. 3.
