Women's Cross Country Team Moves Up Eight Spots to No. 22 in National Poll
The Marquette women's cross country team moved up eight spots in this week's
FinishLynx/NCAA Division I Cross Country national poll, to No. 22. The Golden
Eagles received 110 points. Duke is this week's top ranked team, totalling 387
points and earning 10 first-place votes.
This past weekend, the Golden Eagles performed well in the gold race at the Roy Griak Invitational at the University of Minnesota, placing seventh overall. MU tied defending BIG EAST champion Providence, totalling 222 points. Sophomore Cassie Peller led Marquette, finishing 36th overall in the six-kilometer race in a time of (22:05). Marquette returns to the racecourse this Saturday, Oct. 1, when they travel to Chicago for the Loyola Lakefront Invitational.
The FinishLynx NCAA Division I national poll is voted on by a representative head
coach from each of the nine regions, as well as four at-large members of the
Women's Intercollegiate Cross Country Coaches Association.
