Marquette Returns to Action at Greater Louisville Classic
Sept. 29, 2017
MILWAUKEE – The Marquette University men’s and women’s cross country teams are back in action on Saturday, Sept. 30, competing at the Greater Louisville Classic at Tom Sawyer State Park in Louisville, following an extra week of preparation.
The men’s varsity race (8 kilometers) will kick off the day at 8:30 a.m. Central time, followed by the women's varsity race (5 kilometers) at 9:15 a.m. The men’s and women’s open races will follow at 9:45 a.m. and 10:30 a.m., respectively.
Marquette looks to improve on its solid finishes at this meet from a year ago as the women finished ninth and the men placed 20th. Out of the women's top-three finishers from last year, only Jennifer Parker remains as Kellie Greenwood and Brittney Fievor finished first and second on the Golden Eagles, respectively.
Two weeks ago, the Golden Eagle men and women placed third at the National Catholic Invitational at Notre Dame. Redshirt junior Jessica Parker led the way for the third time this season, taking 11th overall with a 5k time of 18:07, while the men’s side was paced by sophomore Daniel Pederson for the second-straight week, who came in sixth place overall with a 5-mile time of 25:24.7.
