MILWAUKEE- The Marquette University cross country squad will travel to Verona, Wis., Saturday to compete in the Wisconsin Adidas Invitational. The meet, which will be held at the Thomas Zimmer Championship Cross Country Course at University Ridge, will begin with the men's 8k race at 11 a.m., followed by the women's 5k race at 11:45 a.m.

"For our women's side its pretty plain and simple, we are looking to beat as many teams as we can," said head coach Mike Nelson. "So that we can have to possibility to earn NCAA at-large points so that when we run well at Regionals, we have the opportunity to qualify for Nationals.

"On the men's side we are looking to gain experience. This meet is going to be very fast, its going to be tough. We could have every single guy run a (personal best) and potentially get last. So I am really not focusing too much on where we place but I just want to see these young guys get out there and compete as hard as they can."

Competing along with the Golden Eagles are squads from Arkansas, Auburn, BYU, Duke, Georgetown, Illinois, Iowa, Lamar, Michigan, Nebraska, Syracuse, Texas A&M, Wisconsin, and UW- Lacrosse.
