Cross Country Sends Split Squads to Bradley and Wisconsin

MILWAUKEE - The Marquette University men's cross country team will compete in the Wisconsin adidas Invitational Friday, Oct. 14 in Verona, Wis., while the women's team will travel to Peoria, Ill., for the Bradley Classic. The men's team will have two groups competing at Wisconsin with the first group set to start at 1:40 p.m. and the second group at 3 p.m. The 8-kilometer race at the Thomas Zimmer Championship Cross Country Course features 39 teams from across the nation, including 20 nationally ranked teams and five other BIG EAST Conference foes. The women's team is set start at 4:20 p.m. at the Newman Golf Course. Sixteen members of the women's squad will compete at the Bradley Classic, led by freshmen Kenzie Vicker, sophomore Hannah Frett and junior Christina Sliepka, all of whom have finished in MU's top five in each race this season. On Oct. 1, Marquette competed in the Greater Louisville Classic with senior Blake Johnson placing first for the men and 22nd overall. Classmate Peter Bolgert finished second for Marquette with an overall finish of 30th. The women also competed in the Greater Louisville Classic with freshmen Elisia Meyle, senior Alyssa Beste, and Sliepka finishing in first, second and third ,respectively, for Marquette. Both squads competed at the Wisconsin adidas Invitational on Oct. 2, 2010 with the men placing 18th and the women 17th in their respected races. Johnson, Jack Senefeld, Connor Callahan and Bolgert placed 2-3-4-5 for the MU men last year.
