Oct. 16, 2009
MILWAUKEE - The Marquette cross country squad will travel to Terre Haute, Ind., this weekend to compete in the 2009 Indiana State University Pre-Nationals Invitational at the Wabash Valley Family Sports Center. The Golden Eagles will be joined by a myriad of nationally ranked squads, including eight of the top-10 nationally ranked men's teams and seven of the top-10 women's squads.
“This meet is borderline the most competitive and deep cross country race in the world,” head coach Mike Nelson said. “We’re talking about almost 800 guys and girls, and 650 of them are probably running at a very high level.”
The men's blue 8,000-meter race will be the first of the day, commencing at 11 a.m. ET/10 a.m. CT. The day's events will conclude after the women's open 6,000-meter race, which is scheduled to begin at 2:10 p.m.
