MILWAUKEE -The Marquette University men's and women's cross country teams will host the 2013 BIG EAST Championships for the second time in program history on Saturday, Nov. 2 at the Wayne E. Dannehl National Cross Country Course in Somers, Wis.

The meet is scheduled for an 11 a.m. Central time start for the men's 8-kilometer championship and will be followed by the women's 6-kilometer event at roughly 11:50 a.m. CT. The awards ceremony is slated to follow at around 12:40 p.m. CT.

The women's field contains three of the top seven programs in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Coaches Poll, including No. 3 Georgetown, No. 4 Providence and No. 7 Butler, while Villanova is also receiving votes. On the men's side Providence is ranked 19th and Villanova is 26th with Butler receiving votes.

Both Marquette's men's and women's programs are aiming for their best finishes since joining the conference in 2005. The women placed third that season and fifth the following year, while the men have never placed higher than seventh.

Sophomore Kellie Greenwood has led the women's squad at every meet in 2013 and was MU's No. 2 finisher at last year's conference meet in 51st-place overall. Greenwood ran a personal-best 6k time of 21:25 at the Bradley `Pink' Classic in MU's last meet on Oct. 18 and looks to help Marquette build on its seventh-place finish at last year's meet.

Marquette's men are led by a pair of redshirt seniors in Jack Senefeld and Spencer Agnew. Senefeld, the only Marquette student-athlete to have competed in the last three conference championships, has paced MU at three meets in 2013, while Agnew has led Marquette in the other two meets. Senefeld was MU's No. 2 runner at all three conference meets in which he competed, finishing as high as 33rd overall in 2010.

Marquette men's entries (12): Spencer Agnew, Patrick Campbell, Michael Corr, Marc DiVerde, Nate Gomoll, Cody Haberkorn, William Hennessy, Blake Lawson, David Sajdak, Jack Senefeld, Andres Tineo-Paz, Christian Zambrano.

Men's teams competing (9): Butler, Creighton, DePaul, Georgetown, Marquette, Providence, Seton Hall, Villanova, Xavier.

MU last hosted the conference championships at the Wayne E. Dannehl National Cross Country Course on Oct. 31, 2009.

Marquette's men's and women's squads previously competed at the course this season on Saturday, Oct. 12 in the Lucian Rosa Invitational, hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Parkside.

Following Saturday's championships, the Golden Eagles will have one week off before returning to action on Friday, Nov. 15 at the 2013 NCAA Great Lakes Regional Championships in Verona, Wis., at the Thomas Zimmer National Championship Course.
