MILWAUKEE -
The Marquette University men's and women's cross country teams will travel to Verona, Wisconsin, for the Wisconsin Open at the Thomas Zimmer Cross Country Course on Saturday, Nov. 8.

"This is the first year for this particular meet," head Cross Country Coach Mike Nelson said. "I'm really happy that we're able to give some of the student-athletes another competition this fall, and it's a great racing opportunity for our developing athletes and athletes returning from injury."

Meghan Carroll, Maeve McDonald, Alison Parker, Sarah Poirier, Kenzie Vicker and Erica Wanie will represent the Golden Eagles in the women's 6,000 meter race at 11 a.m. Carroll, Parker and Vicker all competed in last week's BIG EAST Championships and placed 50th, 52nd and 68th overall, respectively. Carroll will look to return to the form that earned her top-three team finishes in each of the first three races this season.

On the men's side, Patrick Campbell, Brendan Franz, Aric Miller, David Modert, Kevin Ryan, David Sajdak, Ryan Shields, Andres Tineo-Paz and Corey White will tackle the 8k course at 11:30 a.m. At the BIG EAST Championships last week, Ryan, Campbell, Sajdak and Miller finished 62nd, 64th, 66th and 69th overall, respectively.

Following this weekend's meet, Marquette will return to Verona, Wisconsin, on Friday, Nov. 14 for the 2014 NCAA Great Lakes Region Championships at the Thomas Zimmer Cross Country Course. The men's distance will jump from 8k to 10k next weekend.
