Marquette Suffers 79-62 Defeat at Seton Hall

NEWARK, New Jersey - Seton Hall pulled away from a close game midway through the second half with 3-pointers on three consecutive possessions and held on for a 79-62 victory over Marquette on Wednesday evening at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. 

Luke Fischer led the Golden Eagles (15-8, 4-6 BIG EAST) with 17 points and six rebounds, while Jajuan Johnson turned in another solid peformance with 15 points in a strong second half showing. Freshman forward Henry Ellenson, who had a 32-point, 10-rebound, 6-block showing in MU's last game, turned in his 14th double-double of the year with 10 points and 10 rebounds.

Seton Hall (16-6, 6-4 BIG EAST) received a game-high 21 points and eight assists from Isiah Whitehead. Fellow sophomore Angel Delgado turned in 19 points and 13 rebounds in the victory while shooting 8-of-9 from the floor. 

Ellenson pulled MU within three points at the break with a jumper from the elbow to end the first half.


Despite keeping it close midway through the second half, Marquette could not make up the difference before dropping their sixth conference game of the year. 

The Golden Eagles retun to action on Saturday, Feb. 6 at No. 6 Xavier.
