PROVIDENCE, Rhode Island - Marquette surrendered a 12-point second half lead in a 73-69 loss to Providence at the Dunkin' Donuts Center in Providence, Rhode Island.

Freshman Markus Howard led the Golden Eagles (17-11, 8-8 BIG EAST) with 24 points and graduate student Katin Reinhardt posted 12 along with four assists.

Providence (18-11, 8-8 BIG EAST) was paced by Reggie Bullock's double-double of 20 points and 10 rebounds, while Kyron Cartwright added 16 points and eight assists. Bullock followed a missed shot by Cartwright for what turned out to be the game-winning tip-in with 19 seconds left after a pair of Sam Hauser free throws put MU ahead, 69-68, with 51 seconds remaining.

Sophomore Matt Heldt scored Marquette's last field goal at the 7:20 mark of the second half to put the Golden Eagles up 64-52 for their largest edge of the contest.

Marquette resumes BIG EAST Conference action at Xavier on Wednesday, March 1 at 8 p.m. Central time.
