MU Drops Regular Season Finale at Butler, 95-74

INDIANAPOLIS – Henry Ellenson posted 29 points and eight rebounds but Marquette fell 95-74 to Butler at Hinkle Fieldhouse on Saturday afternoon in its regular season finale.

The Golden Eagles (19-12, 8-10 BIG EAST) shot 48.1 percent from the field but only had Ellenson reach double figures until late in the game. Sandy Cohen III and Duane Wilson joined him with 11 and 10 points, respectively, after the contest was out of reach.

Butler (21-9, 10-8 BIG EAST) had five players in double figures, led by Austin Etherington with 18. Roosevelt Jones, Kelan Martin and Andrew Chrabascz added 15 points apiece on Senior Day for the Bulldogs as BU combined to shoot 56.1 percent from the floor and attempt 35 free throws.

Ellenson scored a season-high 32 points in the previous meeting with the Bulldogs and is averaging 30.5 points per game against them this season.

The Golden Eagles have earned the No. 7 seed in the BIG EAST Tournament and will face No. 10 St. John’s at Madison Square Garden on Wednesday, March 9 at 8:30 p.m. Central time on FS1.
