ROME - Duane Wilson had 28 points and Henry Ellenson had 24 points and 10 rebounds on Wednesday evening as Marquette erased a 10-point fourth quarter deficit in an 89-82 victory over Haukar Basketball at Arena Altero Felici in Rome.

The Golden Eagles, who played the first game of their 10-day European tour, trailed at the end of each quarter but were able to rally on the strength of a 24-8 run to close the contest.

Wilson poured in 15 second half points and added three steals in the victory. He caught fire from deep just into the fourth quarter and nailed three consecutive 3-point attempts before giving MU the lead for good at 78-77 on a deep jumper with 3:48 to play.

Ellenson shined in his MU debut with a double-double, while also showing unique agility and ball-handling skills for a player his size. The 6-foot-10 forward routinely led the Golden Eagles up the floor off defensive rebounds and was able to finish through contact for at least three continuation buckets.

Junior center Luke Fischer added his own double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds and sophomore Sandy Cohen also contributed during the second half comeback with 10 points over the final two quarters.

In addition to Ellenson, MU's first McDonald's All-American since the 1980s, point guard Traci Carter was dynamic at times and showed promise in his debut with seven first half points in a starting assignment.

The Golden Eagles return to action on Saturday, Aug. 15 in Montecatinit Terme, Italy at 11:30 a.m. CT against BC Atletas (Lithuania).
