Marquette Posts 132-75 win over Sam Basket Massagno

LUGANO, Switzerland -- Led by double-doubles from Luke Fischer and Traci Carter, the Marquette University men's basketball team concluded its European tour 4-0 with a 132-75 win over Sam Basket Massagno in Lugano, Switzerland on Wednesday evening.

Fischer posted 20 points and 11 rebounds in the victory to up his per game averages to 17.5 points and 9.5 rebounds for the trip abroad, while Carter contributed across the board with 17 points, 11 assists, seven rebounds and four steals.

The Golden Eagles led by just five points at the end of the first quarter, 29-25, but continued to build their lead throughout. Fischer put up 18 of his 20 points in the opening 20 minutes as MU held a 67-42 advantage at the half. Duane Wilson scored a game-high 21 points in the contest and helped MU double its lead early in the fourth quarter.

Sophomore forward Sandy Cohen, III also made a wide variety of contributions in the victory with nine points, seven assists and six rebounds.

The Golden Eagles return home from Italy early Thursday morning and have roughly three months until their exhibition opener against Ellwood Ellenson and Valley City State on Friday, Nov. 9 at the BMO Harris Bradley Center.
