Marquette Cruises to 106-53 Exhibition Win Over Rockhurst

MILWAUKEE – Six players reached double figures in points for a Marquette team that shot 59 percent from the field, doubling-up visiting Rockhurst University in a 106-53 exhibition win at the BMO Harris Bradley Center on Saturday afternoon.
The Golden Eagles were efficient on offense as they totaled 29 assists on 42 made-baskets and committed just five turnovers. Defensively, they forced Rockhurst into 17 miscues and turned them into 30 points, while dominating the boards, 42-30.
Freshman Markus Howard led the way with 17 points in 18 minutes on 5-8 shooting, including 4-6 from three-point range, while redshirt freshman Andrew Rowsey connected on 3-6 from distance to finish with 13 points.
The Hawks were led by Malachi Nix’s eight points on 3-5 shooting.
The Golden Eagles held a 53-19 advantage at halftime after shooting 61.8 percent (21-34) from the field.
Marquette will open the regular season against Vanderbilt at the Veterans Classic in Annapolis, Maryland on Friday, Nov. 11. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m. Central time.
