Marquette stuns No. 1 Villanova, 74-72
Katin Reinhardt hit two free throws with 11.6 seconds left, Jalen Brunson missed a layup at the buzzer and Marquette upset top-ranked Villanova 74-72 on Tuesday night.

Along with regular season and tournament matchups in league play, the two teams also squared off in the 1963 National Invitation Tournament and the 1980 NCAA Championship. Marquette downed the Wildcats 66-58 in the NIT, but fell 77-59 in the opening round of the NCAA's in Providence, R.I.

A pair of free throws in the closing moments of regulation by MU's Katin Reinhardt proved to be in the difference in a 74-72 victory over No. 1 Villanova on Jan. 24, 2017 at the BMO Harris Bradley Center in the most recent matchup. The win was the first-ever for Marquette over the top-ranked team in the regular season and snapped a nine-game losing skid to Villanova.

MU's last win over the Wildcats on the road was an 82-78 decision on Jan. 28, 2012 in the Wells Fargo Center.
