Howard Named to BIG EAST All-Freshman Team

Guard Markus Howard of the Marquette University men’s basketball program has been named to the BIG EAST All-Freshman Team, the league office announced Sunday afternoon.
The Chandler, Arizona native leads the team in scoring at 13.1 points per game and currently tops the nation in 3-point field goal percentage (.551). He has started 25 of the 29 games in which he has played and is shooting 51.4 percent from the floor overall and 87.5 percent from the free throw line.
In BIG EAST games, Howard ranks 11th in scoring (15.4 points per game) and sixth in field goal percentage (.527). He capped the regular season by earning BIG EAST Freshman of the Week accolades for the third time after leading the Golden Eagles to wins at Xavier and at home versus Creighton.
Marquette has earned the No. 4 seed in the 2017 BIG EAST Conference Tournament presented by Jeep and will face No. 5 seed Seton Hall at 1:30 p.m. CT on Thursday, March 9 in Madison Square Garden.
