Marquette Faces DePaul In BIG EAST Tournament
March 5, 2018
The Marquette University men's basketball team (18-12, 9-9 BIG EAST) has earned the No. 7 seed in the 2018 BIG EAST Tournament Presented by Jeep and will face No. 10 seed DePaul (11-19, 4-14 BIG EAST) in Madison Square Garden at 8:30 p.m. CT on Wednesday, March 7 in the event's first round. FS1 will feature the television broadcast, with Gus Johnson (play-by-play), Bill Raftery (analyst) and Lisa Byington (reporter) calling the action.
Marquette-DePaul Add To Extended Series
Marquette's all-time series with DePaul dates back to the 1917-18 season (second year of MU's varsity competition) and includes 122 previous meetings.
The Golden Eagles own a 75-47 advantage in the series and have claimed 11 of the last 14 matchups overall. The extensive series history has been aided by the fact the two programs have been in the same league dating back to the 1991-92 campaign. Since that season, the teams have shared affiliation in the Great Midwest Conference, Conference USA and BIG EAST Conference.
The two team's split the home-and-home series in 2017-18, with each squad winning on its respective home court. DePaul earned a 70-62 win on Feb. 24 at Wintrust Arena in the most recent matchup.
In program history, Marquette has faced only rival Wisconsin (124) on more occasions.
