Marquette Falls 70-62 At DePaul In BIG EAST Action
The Marquette University men's basketball team (16-12, 7-9 BIG EAST) dropped a 70-62 decision at DePaul (11-17, 4-12 BIG EAST) Saturday afternoon in non-conference action at Wintrust Arena.

The Golden Eagles own a 75-47 advantage in the series and have claimed 11 of the last 14 matchups overall. The extensive series history has been aided by the fact the two programs have been in the same league dating back to the 1991-92 campaign. Since that season, the teams have shared affiliation in the Great Midwest Conference, Conference USA and BIG EAST Conference.

The two team's split the home-and-home series in 2017-18, with each squad winning on its respective home court. DePaul earned a 70-62 win on Feb. 24 at Wintrust Arena in the most recent matchup.

In program history, Marquette has faced only rival Wisconsin (124) on more occasions.

News & Notes: Scoring Trio Key To Team Success

  • At least one member of Marquette's top scoring trio of Markus Howard, Andrew Rowsey and Sam Hauser has led the team in scoring in all but one game (Anim at Creighton on Feb. 17) this season and the players account for 68.3 percent of the team's offensive attack.
  • Marquette has advanced to at least the league tourney quarterfinals every season since joining the BIG EAST in 2005-06. A win over DePaul would allow MU to extend that run, the longest by any current member of the conference. u MU capped its 30th and final season at the BMO Harris Bradley Center with an 85-81 win over Creighton on Senior Day. The Golden Eagles finished with an overall record at the home arena of 387-115 and earned a winning home record each of those campaigns. Marquette will move to the Wisconsin Entertainment & Sports Center, the new home of the Milwaukee Bucks, in time for the 2018-19 season.
  • With MU's 90-86 overtime victory at Georgetown on Feb. 26, the team is now 3-0 on the year in extra-session contests and 7-0 dating back to the start of the 2015-16 campaign.
  • Of the team's losses in 2017-18, six have come to nationally ranked teams (19/21 Purdue, 6/6 Wichita State, 6/5 Xavier, 3/3 Villanova, 8/8 Xavier, and 1/1 Villanova - ranking at time of game). As of March 5, a total of five losses have come to teams (Villanova, Xavier, Purdue) currently ranked in the top-10.
