Marquette Earns No. 6 Seed In League Tourney

The Marquette University men’s basketball team (17-14, 9-9 BIG EAST has earned the No. 6 seed in the upcoming 2014 BIG EAST Tournament Presented by NEW YORK LIFE and will face No. 3 seed Xavier at 8:30 p.m. CT on Thursday, March 13 in Madison Square Garden.
FOX Sports 1 will feature each game of the tourney, with Gus Johnson (play-by-play), Bill Raftery (analyst) and Erin Andrews (reporter) calling the action.
The winner will advance to the semifinals at 8:30 p.m. CT on Friday, March 14 to face the Creighton versus DePaul/Georgetown winner.
The Golden Eagles, who split their season series with the Musketeers, are the lone league program to advance to at least the quarterfinals every season since 2005-06. Xavier posted an 86-79 victory over MU in Cincinnati, Ohio, on Jan. 9 and Marquette was victorious 81-72 at the BMO Harris Bradley Center on Feb. 15.
Marquette is 8-8 all-time in the BIG EAST tourney and 20-23 overall in conference championships.
