MILWAUKEE - The Marquette University men's basketball team will make its sixth consecutive trip to the NCAA Championship when the squad faces No. 6 Xavier as the No. 11 seed in the NCAA Second Round Friday, March 18 in Cleveland, Ohio.
The Golden Eagles are 20-14 overall and won two games in the BIG EAST Championship for the second year in a row to secure their spot in the field of 68.
The Musketeers (24-7) are the reigning Atlantic 10 Conference regular season champions and are led by A-10 Player of the Year Tu Holloway's 20.2 points per game.
Marquette is 43-16 all time against Xavier and last defeated XU, 71-61, on Nov. 26, 2009 in Orlando, Fla., as part of the Old Spice Classic. It is the first time the two teams have met in NCAA Championship play.

It is the first time MU has played in the NCAA tournament east of the Mississippi River since 2007 when Marquette was sent to Winston Salem, N.C.
Marquette's seed is the lowest it has received since it was a No. 10 seed in 1997.
MU is 34-29 all-time in the NCAA Championship and won the 1977 National Championship.
