Golden Eagles Arrive In San Jose To Continue NCAA Championship Preparations
March 16, 2010 NCAA Postseason Guide (PDF) San Jose, Calif. - The first wave of the Marquette men's basketball travel party arrived in San Jose Monday evening in advance of the team's matchup with Washington Thursday evening in the opening round of the 2010 NCAA Men's Basketball Championship. Team personnel and support staff arrived at the squad's headquarters for the week around 10 p.m. local time. The charter flight went without incident, but did include a quick stop in Lincoln, Neb., to add the necessary fuel to make it to San Jose. Tuesday's schedule includes a team practice, film session and study hall. Marquette will return to the practice court Wednesday morning before the mandatory NCAA open practice and press conference in the afternoon. Several members of the squad were sporting new haircuts on Monday, courtesy of Maurice Acker's barber and another friend of the program. Each player has his jersey number carved into the side of his head, along with a unique design. Monday's study hall session kept several players from participating and it's unclear at this point who will man the clippers to complete the job. Last season, every member of the squad, including some support staff, completely shaved their heads in advance of the NCAA opener.
