Prep standout Traci Carter (Philadelphia/Life Center Academy) has signed a National Letter of Intent with the Marquette University men's basketball program, head coach Steve Wojciechowski announced Wednesday morning.

Carter, a 6-0, 160-pounder, will arrive on campus this summer and have four years of eligibility with the Golden Eagles.

"We feel that Traci is one of the top point guards in the United States," Wojciechowski said. "He is a skilled ball-handler and passer and he makes the players around him better."

The Philadelphia native recently competed his senior campaign at Life Center Academy in Burlington, N.J. under head coach Pervis Ellison. He averaged 16.0 points, 7.0 assists, 5.0 rebounds and 4.0 steals per game in 2014-15 and was tabbed first team all-independent. Carter was also a McDonald's All-American Game nominee and was named the program's most valuable player.

Carter helped Life Center Academy to over 40 victories in his two seasons and the team claimed the top ranking among independent teams within the state of New Jersey. He concluded his prep career with over 1,000 points and was tabbed the top player in the Hoop Hall Classic.

Carter began his career at Roman Catholic High School in Philadelphia, Pa., before transferring to Life Center Academy after the 2012-13 campaign. He averaged 7.6 points per game for the Cahillites as a sophomore and has competed on the AAU circuit for We-R1 and the squad claimed the Under Armour Association Championship in 2014.

Wojciechowski and his staff have compiled a nationally ranked 2015 recruiting class. The five-member group is currently rated fifth in the nation by, seventh by, ninth by and 10th by

"We are pleased to announce the additions of Sacar and Traci to the Marquette basketball family," Wojciechowski said. "Both individuals are great kids who had outstanding high school careers.

"We are really excited about what we have been able to accomplish in the last 12 months while recruiting for Marquette," Wojciechowski added. "The five young men who we signed represent the best and brightest from around the country, both on and off the court. We believe they will be the foundation of our program here at Marquette."
