Guard Andrew Rowsey, an all-conference player at UNC Asheville, is transferring to Marquette University and will join the men's basketball program this summer, head coach Steve Wojciechowski announced Monday afternoon.

Rowsey, a 5-10, 175-pounder, will arrive on campus this summer and have two years of eligibility with the Golden Eagles after redshirting in 2015-16 due to NCAA transfer rules.

"We are thrilled to add Andrew to the Marquette basketball family," Wojciechowski said. "He has already excelled on the court at the NCAA Division I level and has shown the ability to shoot and score at an elite level. He also has great toughness and is a tremendous competitor and we believe he will be an integral part of our program as we move forward."

The Lexington, Va., native was a Second Team All-Big South Conference honoree in 2014-15 after he finished among the league leaders in scoring (3rd, 19.2 ppg.), free throw percentage (1st, .921) and 3-point field goals made (2nd, 102). His effort at the charity stripe ranked third nationally and his 102 made treys were the 13th-highest total by any player in the nation. Rowsey helped the Bulldogs to 15 victories and a trip to the conference tournament quarterfinals.

In 2013-14, Rowsey was tabbed the league's freshman of the year and also claimed a spot on the all-conference roster. He led the BIG South in scoring (20.3 ppg.), which was the second-highest scoring average for a freshman in the nation. Rowsey was the only player to start each of the team's 32 games and he set a single-season record at UNC Asheville with 106 made 3-pointers.

As a senior at Rockbridge High School, he was named the Virginia Player of the Year after averaging 35.8 points per game. His scoring ability was highlighted by a 60-point game early in the season against Stuarts Draft and he finished his career with 2,637 points, the second-highest total of any player in the state of Virginia.
