The Marquette University men’s basketball program has added Loyola Marymount transfer Gabe Levin to the roster, head coach Steve Wojciechowski announced Tuesday afternoon.

Levin, a 6-7, 230-pounder, will arrive on campus this summer and have three seasons of eligibility remaining after redshirting in 2014-15 due to NCAA transfer rules.

“Gabe’s versatility and toughness will allow him to make an immediate impact on our program,” Wojciechowski said. “He has already proven his ability to produce at a high level and we are extremely excited about his addition to the Marquette family.”

The Oak Park, Illinois, native started each of the 29 games in which he appeared for LMU in 2013-14 and averaged 11.1 points and a team-best 7.1 rebounds per game. Levin played an average of 31.9 minutes per night and led the squad in rebounding on 14 occasions (six double-doubles). For his efforts, he was named to the West Coast Conference All-Freshman Team after concluding the campaign among the league leaders in scoring (26th), rebounding (10th) and blocked shots (fifth, 1.2 bpg.).

In 2012-13, Levin played at St. Thomas More Prep in Connecticut. He was a first team all-league performer and helped the squad to the top seed in the postseason tournament and an appearance in the championship game.

As a senior at Oak Park High School in River Forest, Illinois, he averaged 20.0 points and 10.0 rebounds per contest for the Huskies, leading the program to the regional championship. The team captured the league championship that season, finishing 20-7 overall and advancing to the sectional semifinal matchup. Levin was a fourth team all-state honoree by the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association and was also tabbed all-conference and all-area.

Levin chose Marquette over Georgia Tech, Northwestern and Notre Dame.
