The Third Annual Texas Style Bar-B-Q was once again a huge success as nearly 1,500 Marquette fans attended the event at MU's Alumni Memorial Union Wednesday afternoon.

The activities were moved inside because of the potential for strong storms in the area, but that didn't dampen the family-friendly festivities. Attendees were able to interact with current and former Marquette players, participate in games and listen to comments from head coach Buzz Williams.

Prior to the festivities at the Union, Williams hosted over 40 former players and their families for a reception at the Al McGuire Center. The group was able to tour the facility, watch video highlights, meet the current players and hear remarks from Williams.

Included in the group were; Gene Berce (1951), Dwight Burke (2009), Dennis Carroll (1957), Mark Harris (1996), Jerry Hopfensperger (1957), Marcus Jackson (2005), Greg Johnson (1975), Mark Marotta (1984), Jim McIlvaine (1994), Scott Merritt (2004), Terry Rand (1956), Terry Sanders (2004), Terrell Schlundt (1983), Kerry Trotter (1986) and Robert Walczak (1957).

The reception was highlighted by a "Battle of the Decades" free throw competition, pitting players from each decade, dating back to the 1940's, against each other. A winner from each 10-year span advanced to the championship. It took eight rounds, but Kerry Trotter (1986) was finally able to defeat Mark Harris (1996) to give the 80's bragging rights until next June.
