Setting the tone on Monday with a victory in the Golden Eagle Challenge, the Session III day campers did not disappoint on “Championship Friday” at the Al McGuire Center.

Highlights included a new hot shot record, an amazing dunk and a pair of tournament upsets.

Shooting sensation Michael Poker saved his best hand for Friday, shattering the camp record in hot shot with an amazing total of 77.  The previous record of 65 was owned by hall of fame performer Heath Joubert, whose name has become revered throughout the far reaches of the summer camp universe.

Alec Hernandez utilized a prop few have dared attempt in the dunk contest – the shot clock.  While pint-size in stature, his ability couldn’t be measured as he bounced the ball off the shot clock before throwing down a thunderous two-handed dunk that fans can only hope there was amateur video available to truly capture its magnitude.

Team USA cruised to the tournament title of the Olympic division after capturing the regular season crown, but there were a pair of upsets in the other two divisions.  Florida wrestled the title away from Memphis in the NCAA division and USF was able to come out of the shadows for the BIG EAST championship.
