Marquette Madness Tips 2017-18 Season Oct. 6

Oct. 2, 2017

Marquette University men’s and women’s basketball fans will get their first look at the 2017-18 teams on Friday, Oct. 6 at 7 p.m. when the programs host Marquette Madness, presented by Meijer, in the Al McGuire Center.

Admission is free, but capacity in the 3,700-seat arena is limited, and doors to the Al McGuire Center will open at 4:30 p.m. to the public for the volleyball match. Those in possession of a wristband, which will begin to be distributed at 3:30 p.m., will earn entrance not only to Madness, but also the 5 p.m. volleyball match versus Providence. Fans won’t be asked to clear the Al at the conclusion of the volleyball match, but may be asked to relocate to accommodate special seating sections.

While wristbands are not required for entrance to the Reunion & Homecoming Block Party (3:30-7 p.m.) across the street from the Al, they will be mandatory for access to Madness and the volleyball match. All seating is general admission, but only Gold wristbands will be allowed in the lower bowl and Blue wristbands provide a seat in the upper level. Parking will be available on a first-come, first-served basis for free in Structure 1 and 2.

Re-entry into the Al McGuire Center won’t be permitted and attendees won’t be able to bring large backpacks or food/drink carry-ins. Concessions stands will be open for both the volleyball match and Marquette Madness.

Golden Eagle fans not able to attend the event will be able to watch live coverage beginning at 7 p.m., courtesy of Spectrum Sports. In Southeast Wisconsin, basketball fans can view this on channel 32 and HD channel 1332. It can also be seen in Northeast Wisconsin on alternate channel 1314. Dennis Krause and Steve Novak will host the broadcast, which will include exclusive content, including interviews with players and other special guests. The program will feature multiple replay appearances, including 1 p.m. and 8 p.m. CT on Saturday, Oct. 7. Spectrum customers will also be able to stream the live broadcast at with their account login information.

The Reunion & Homecoming Block Party opens at 3:30 p.m. and features live music, player autograph sessions starting at 5 p.m. (no post-Madness opportunities), a mechanical bull, bungee basketball and more. No pre-registration is required for the block party. The bed races are back in 2017 and begin at 4 p.m. on 12th Street in front of the Al McGuire Center.
