Marquette Madness is Friday at the Al McGuire Center

Marquette University men’s and women’s basketball fans will get their first look at the 2017-18 teams on Friday, Oct. 6 at 7 p.m. when the programs host Marquette Madness, presented by Meijer, in the Al McGuire Center. The event can be viewed live on Spectrum Sports Wisconsin (Channel 32, 1332 HD).

Admission is free, but capacity in the 3,700-seat arena is limited, and doors to the Al McGuire Center will open at 4:30 p.m. to the public for the volleyball match. Those in possession of a wristband, which will begin to be distributed at 3:30 p.m., will earn entrance not only to Madness, but also the 5 p.m. volleyball match versus Providence. Fans won’t be asked to clear the Al at the conclusion of the volleyball match, but may be asked to relocate to accommodate special seating sections.

Men’s Basketball single game tickets on sale Oct. 6

Ticket Information

Single game tickets for the 2017-18 Marquette men’s basketball season will go on sale Friday, October 6 at 10 a.m. (CST) and great season-ticket packages are also still available.

Tickets can be purchased in person at the Marquette Athletics Ticket Office, located in the Al McGuire Center (770 N. 12th St.), at the BMO Harris Bradley Center Ticket Office, via or by calling the Marquette Athletics Ticket Office at 414-288-4668.

Fans interested in securing the best seats for Marquette men’s basketball games in the new downtown arena in 2018-19 are encouraged to purchase season tickets this year. Marquette 2017-18 season ticket holders will receive first priority in selecting seats in the new arena.

Kendziorski is co-medalist, golf finishes third at Marquette Intercollegiate

Junior Austin Kendziorski clinched co-medalist honors for the first time in his career to lead third-place Marquette (879) with a 3-under-par 213 (67-72-74) performance at the Marquette Intercollegiate at Erin Hills. Golf plays its fourth of five fall events beginning on Sunday (Oct. 8) in the Windon Memorial Classic, hosted by Northwestern.

Men’s lacrosse presence at Team USA Fall Classic this weekend

Marquette head coach and Team USA assistant coach Joe Amplo, along with former MU All-Americans Jacob Richard, Liam Byrnes and B.J. Grill, and current volunteer assistant coach Ryan Brown, will participate with Team USA this weekend at the US Lacrosse complex in Sparks, Maryland. The U.S. squad will face 2017 NCAA champion Maryland on Saturday at 5 p.m. Central time and NCAA semifinalist Towson on Sunday at 1 p.m. Both contests can be viewed on

Help President Lovell’s ‘Stuff the Truck’ Food Drive at MU athletic events

Though President Lovell’s ‘Stuff the Truck” food drive occurred on Tuesday afternoon at the Alumni Memorial Union, non-perishable food donations will be accepted at Marquette athletic events through the end of MU Homecoming weekend. Bins will be easily identifiable upon entrance at Valley Fields and the Al McGuire Center.

Athletics hits 1,000 community service hours in 2017-18

A little over a month into the 2017-18 academic year and Marquette’s athletic programs have already combined for over 1,000 hours of community service, well on its way to the goal of 5,000. Women’s lacrosse leads the pack with 280 hours, while men’s basketball is second with 225. Some of the organizations and events where MU student-athletes have volunteered this fall:

Women’s basketball to host fantasy camp Oct. 24


The second annual Marquette Women's Basketball Fantasy Camp, hosted by MU staff and student-athletes will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 24 at the Al McGuire Center beginning at 6 p.m.

Fantasy Campers will be taken through several drills, stations, and presentations to enhance basketball fundamentals and gain a better understanding of the game. The evening will conclude with an opportunity to mingle with the players and staff.

The two-hour camp is completely free of charge and although children are not able to participate they are welcome to spectate from the sidelines. Men and women age 25 and older are eligible to take part in the exciting evening.

Men's basketball hosts annual Media Day

The men's basketball program held its annual preseason availability for local media on Monday at the Al McGuire Center. Head coach Steve Wojciechowski addressed those in attendance at a press conference before a team photo in the Kasten Gym and individual breakout sessions with coaches and student-athletes.

Help Butch Lee’s Hurricane Maria recovery efforts in Puerto Rico

With much of Puerto Rico’s buildings and infrastructure devastated from the effects of Hurricane Maria, former men’s basketball player Butch Lee has started a GoFundMe campaign to assist fellow American citizens thorough is business location in San Juan.

Lee is MU’s only Naismith Award winner in program history and competed on the Puerto Rican national team in the 1976 Olympics in Montreal, nearly single-handedly defeating the United States squad with a 35-point effort.
