Men's Scrimmage Highlights | Dunk Contest

MILWAUKEE – The Marquette University men’s and women’s basketball teams officially kicked off their 2015-16 seasons at Marquette Madness on Friday evening at the Al McGuire Center.

A capacity crowd was on hand to see the unveiling of the newest iterations of the Golden Eagles squads, led by head coaches Steve Wojciechowski and Carolyn Kieger.

The women’s squad began the evening with a scrimmage and Kieger hit a halfcourt shot to win Marquette senior Erik Rogers free books for the year before the men took the court.

The men’s scrimmage allowed MU fans the first opportunity to see the Golden Eagles in person after their European tour this summer and the dunk contest ended in a victory for freshman forward Henry Ellenson.

Wristbands were given out for entrance to Madness at 4:30 p.m. on N. 12th Street, which was shut down between Wisconsin and Wells for the Blue and Gold Fund Block Party. The line wrapped around the corner of Wells and past 13th Street by Schroeder Hall.

The men’s squad begins the season on Monday, Nov. 9 against Valley City State, while the women will face Southwest Baptist in exhibition action on Sunday, Nov. 8 at the Al McGuire Center.
