Pint Glass Series Highlights MBB Promotional Schedule
Dec. 2, 2016
A season-long series of pint glasses featuring the Marquette men’s basketball team’s jersey tradition highlights the 2016-17 promotional schedule at the program’s remaining home games at the BMO Harris Bradley Center.
“With this season being a celebration of our 100th year of men’s basketball, we knew we wanted to do some special things to help commemorate our century of excellence,” said Katie Glunt, Assistant Athletics Director for Marketing and Fan Engagement. “The ability to provide posters, t-shirts and pint glasses at 16 of our 18 home games is a byproduct of conversations we have had over the past year with our Fan Advisory Committee and season ticket holders. We look forward to receiving more feedback from those groups in the future on how we can continue to enhance their experience at our home sporting events."
The first pint glass, for fans 21-and-older, will be distributed postgame beginning on Dec. 19, courtesy of Coors Light. A total of 10 glasses will be available at 10 games for the remainder of the campaign and those looking to complete the set can pick up the other two at the team’s weekly radio show (Thursday nights from 6-7 p.m. at Dave & Busters) or the Centennial Hoop-La event scheduled for June 23 to cap the celebration of the 100th year of men’s basketball at Marquette.
For each game, the first 1,000 fans to claim a voucher when entering the arena will be able to claim the pint glass as they depart the BMO Harris Bradley Center.
Three games (Fresno St., Wisconsin and St. John’s) will provide the opportunity for Marquette fans to claim special t-shirts honoring the 100th anniversary. For those matchups, the first 5,000 fans in attendance will receive the specially designed, one-of-a-kind shirts.
The Fresno St. game features a stylized photo of one of Marquette’s first men’s basketball teams on a gray t-shirt. The Wisconsin game giveaway is a caricature drawing of the 1977 national championship team on a championship blue t-shirt as that team will celebrate the 40th anniversary of its title that day. An image of Al McGuire adorns a navy t-shirt and will be distributed as part of the Al’s Night celebration planned for the St. John’s game. The t-shirt series is made possible thanks to Marquette Sports Properties partners Pepsi, Baird and Ontal.
At games earlier this season, the official 2016-17 team poster, a poster celebrating various uniform styles in the 100 years of Marquette basketball and a turquoise t-shirt celebrating Native American Heritage Month were distributed.
