The Marquette University men's basketball team continues its series with in-state rival Wisconsin Saturday afternoon when the team travels to Madison for a 4 p.m. CT opening tip on ESPN2. Dave O'Brien (play-by-play) and Steve Lavin (analyst) will call the action during MU's fourth national broadcast of the campaign, which will also be available online at ESPN360.com. Following Saturday's action, the Golden Eagles won't play until Nov. 19, when the team hosts North Florida, in an effort to focus on the University's finals week schedule.

Series With Badgers Dates Back To 1917
Marquette's all-time series with Wisconsin dates back to 1917, with the first meeting coming in just MU's second season of competition.

Wisconsin owns a 62-53 edge in the previous matchups, with the two squads splitting each of the last eight outings. The Golden Eagles have claimed the last two games, including a 61-58 decision in 2008-09 at the Bradley Center.

MU has met Wisconsin more times (115) in men's basketball than any other opponent in program history.

MU's Supplements Inside Scoring At The Line
Lacking an effective and consistent inside scoring threat in the post in 2008-09, the Golden Eagles relied on the free throw line as a way to supplement points in the paint.

The Golden Eagles were among the nation's leaders in free throws made and attempted last season, making more charity tosses than their opponents attempted.

That trend is continuing in 2009-10 through the first nine games. MU is shooting 70.7 percent from the line overall, knocking down 135-of191. Opponents, meanwhile, are shooting 69.1 percent as a group, but have only attempted 139 shots.

Maymon To Play Home Game On The Road
Freshman forward Jeronne Maymon, a Madison native and the reigning state high school player of the year, will make the first trip to his hometown on Saturday as a member of the Marquette men's basketball team.

A nationally ranked prospect out of Madison's Memorial High School, Maymon was a two-time Associated Press Player of the year with the Spartans.

Maymon will play in the Kohl Center on two occasions in his four-year career if the programs continue their annual series. Former MU standout and Memorial graduate Wesley Matthews was able to claim one victory in Madison during his career, an 81-76 decision in 2007-08.
