The Marquette University men's basketball team (6-4, 0-0 BIG EAST) wraps up a two-game homestand Tuesday night at 8 p.m. CT when the squad hosts Ball State (2-5, 0-0 Mid-American) at the BMO Harris Bradley Center. FOX Sports 1 will feature MU's ninth national television broadcast of the campaign, with Brian Anderson (play-by-play) and Bob Wenzel (analyst) calling the action. Following Tuesday night's matchup, Marquette will travel to Las Vegas on Dec. 21 to face New Mexico in the MGM Grand Showcase. The event's doubleheader also includes Oklahoma State versus Colorado in the night cap. The Golden Eagles will then have a week off for Christmas before concluding the non-conference portion of the campaign at home Dec. 28 against Samford.

Marquette Faces Another First-Time Opponent

Marquette's non-conference schedule has featured a number of first-time opponents and that trend continues with Tuesday night's matchup versus Ball State.

While the Golden Eagles and Cardinals will be meeting for the first time, MU is very familiar with programs from the Mid-American Conference. Marquette is 63-22 all-time against teams currently in the league and has faced every squad at least once with the exception of BSU, Akron and Buffalo.

MU's schedule also included debut matchups with Southern, New Hampshire, Cal State Fullerton and George Washington. The team has yet to face BSU, New Mexico and Samford.

Marquette has faced each of the new members (Butler, Creighton, Xavier) of the BIG EAST Conference on multiple previous occasions.

MU's Distribution Key In Win Over IUPUI

Marquette had little trouble handling IUPUI's zone defense Saturday afternoon and the result was an 86-50 victory over the Jaguars.

The Golden Eagles finished with 28 assists on 37 made field goals, including a 15-of-17 mark in the first half. Senior forward Jamil Wilson led the way with a season-high six assists and all but one player who saw extended playing time had at least one helper.

MU collected a season-high 33 assists in the 114-71 victory over Grambling State on Nov. 12. In the team's six victories in 2013-14, Marquette is averaging 19.7 assists per game.

Burton Maximizing His Court Minutes

Freshman forward Deonte Burton has made the most of his opportunity when in the Marquette lineup and Saturday afternoon versus IUPUI was a perfect example.

The Milwaukee, Wis., native finished with 10 points, four rebounds, two assists, two blocks and a pair of steals in just 18 minutes off the bench. He has appeared in all 10 games as a reserve in an average of 12.4 minutes per outing. Burton is the only player on the roster to have more offensive boards than defensive and is currently tied for the team lead in steals (12).

Challenging Non-League Schedule Continues

Marquette's four losses this season have come to teams currently in possession of a 38-3 combined overall record and three of the programs are among those ranked in the top-25 polls.

No. 3/2 Ohio State (10-0), No. 4/6 Wisconsin (12-0) and No. 24/24 San Diego State (7-1) are also in possession of top-20 RPIs. Still remaining before BIG EAST Conference play is a Dec. 21 outing in Las Vegas against New Mexico, which is currently 7-2 on the year and ranked 27th in the RPI.
