Redshirt freshman guard Duane Wilson and redshirt sophomore center Luke Fischer were both honored by the BIG EAST Conference this week, the league office announced Monday afternoon.

Wilson was named BIG EAST Rookie of the Week for the second time this season after helping Marquette to wins over Arizona State and Alabama A&M. He contributed 13.5 points, 4.0 steals, 3.5 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game and also claimed the award on Dec. 1.

Fischer averaged 20.5 points, 7.5 rebounds and 3.0 blocks in a pair of Marquette wins while shooting 89.5 percent (17-of-19) from the floor. The two games were the first of the year for Fischer and he opened his MU career with 20 points and nine boards against ASU.

Derrick Wilson Wills Marquette To Win Over North Dakota

Senior guard Derrick Wilson helped Marquette rally from an eight-point deficit to defeat North Dakota on Dec. 22 by collecting his best all-around performance in 2014-15.

Wilson finished with 15 points, nine rebounds and six assists in his seventh starting assignment of the season. He shot 6-of-10 from the field, including his fifth career 3-pointer and didn’t turn the ball over in a team-best 36 minutes of action. His rebound total matched a career high and he narrowly missed collecting his first career double-double.
