Men's basketball team opens BIG EAST play on Tuesday
January 2, 2006 – The Marquette men’s basketball team is one day away from their inaugural BIG EAST Conference game against second-ranked Connecticut on Tuesday, January 3, at 7 p.m. at Bradley Center.
The game will be the first between the two schools in men’s basketball, as well as the undefeated Huskies first trip to Milwaukee. "We're going to see an incredible talent level on Tuesday against second-ranked Connecticut," said Marquette head coach Tom Crean. "We've got to be able to match up with that in the form of hustle, energy, enthusiasm and execution." Connecticut is led by sophomore forward Rudy Gay, a preseason all-American, and sharp-shooting guard Rashard Anderson. Anderson has connected on a BIG EAST Conference best 53.1-percent (26-of-49) from three point range. Led by freshman guard Dominic James, 14.1 ppg and 5.8 apg, MU enters Tuesday’s game having won four straight and six of seven.
