Murphy, a native of Eau Claire, Wis., played at Marquette from 2002 through 2006. He most recently was an assistant coach at Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, Ill., where he was responsible for individual instruction, fundraising, strength and conditioning and assistance in recruiting. Last year, the Huskies had two players named Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholars.

Murphy played in 41 collegiate events while at Marquette. He was a four-year letterwinner and boasted a 75.15 career scoring average. Following his senior season, Murphy earned a spot in the U.S. Amateur Championships, where he competed at Hazeltine National Golf Club in Chaska, Minn., site of this year's PGA Championship.

As a collegiate golfer, Murphy recorded multiple top 10 finishes, including a pair of runner-up placements at Marshall and Georgetown as a senior. He ranked third all-time in Golden Eagle history with 31 rounds under par at the conclusion of his Marquette career. Murphy continued his success on the amateur circuit, including numerous top 10 finishes in Wisconsin State Amateur matches.
