Freshman (2002-03) -- Sass was one of two Marquette freshman to play in all five tournaments in the fall of 2002. He opened his career with an 84 at the John Piper Intercollegiate, but rebounded to fire a 72 in the second round. He shot a 17-over, 233 to finish 48th in his collegiate debut. In his second outing, he had his best career placement. Sass finished 26th at the Blue Demon Invitational, shooting a 16-over 232. His vest total came at The Cardinal Intercollegiate. He was 12-over at 228. He placed 54th in that event. Sass was slow to begin his fall season, placing 65th, 28th and 86th in the first three tournaments. He responded to have his best finish at the Billiken Invitational, placing eight with an eight-over, 221. High School -- Sass earned two letters in golf at Homestead high school. He was captain of his team as a senior and was selected third team all-state in each of his two years. He led his team to conference, sectional and regional championships each season and finished tied for seventh at the state championships as a senior. He was also a member of the National Honor Society, was on student council and was on the Math Club. Personal -- The son of David and Karen Sass, he was born September 3, 1983. Sass is an engineering major.
