The Marquette golf team returned to action with what was supposed to be the first of two rounds at the Wexford Plantation Intercollegiate in Hilton Head, S.C. Darkness forced the suspension of round two play, but round one was completed with Marquette in sixth place of 15 schools, shooting 20-over, 308. S.C.-Aiken leads the competition at eight over, 296.

Sophomore Ted Gray was Marquette's top first round finisher. He shot a two-over, 74, to sit in eighth place. USC-Aiken's Scott Brown leads after 18 holes at five-under, 67.

Freshman Mike Van Sickle is in 19th place at four-over, 76. Senior Kyle Murphy is two shots behind Van Sickle at 78, holding down 31st place.

Marquette seniors Joe Weber and Nathan Colson round out the field. Weber is in 46th place at eight-over, 80. Colson is in 73rd at 14-over, 86.

Second round action resumes tomorrow at 8 a.m. with the third round to follow.
