Colson Places Third at USF Invitational

Marquette senior Nathan Colson had his best tournament of the year, coming in third at the Dick Wittcoff/USF Invitational in Tampa, Fla. Colson placed third just three strokes off the tournament lead. Colson shot a final round 70, breaking par twice during the tournament. He shot one-over, 214. Florida Southern's Greg Koch won the tournament, shooting two- under, 211. Colson's strong performance led Marquette to a sixth place finish for the tournament. The Golden Eagles shot 889 for the event. Middle Tennessee won the tournament, shooting 871 for the 54 holes. Senior Kyle Murphy finished in 19th at 10-over, 223. Freshman Mike Van Sickle placed 31st at 12-over, 225. Sophomore Ted Gray placed 51st, shooting 16-over, 229. Senior Joe Weber was 24-over, 237, to place 80th. The Golden Eagles return to action beginning March 19 in the Pinehurst Intercollegiate, a three-day event.
