Senior Mike McDonald Leads Golden Eagles at Rio Pinar Invitational

MILWAUKEE - The Marquette Golden Eagles concluded play on Tuesday afternoon at the Rio Pinar Invitational, hosted by the University of Central Florida.

Senior Mike McDonald was the top finisher for the Golden Eagles, tying for 33rd at eight over par. The Germantown, Wis. native shot a combined 224 over three rounds, including a personal three-day best 72 in the final.

Rounding out play for Marquette was junior Kelly Kretz (T61, +13), sophomore Matt Haase (81, +18), sophomore Ryan Prickette (88, +22) and junior Ben Sieg (T89, +23).

The team finished in 18th place in a field led by UCF, Charlotte and North Florida. Marquette and USF were the lone BIG EAST schools to compete. The Bulls completed the tournament tied for 15th.

Six of the 18 teams competing in Orlando were top-75 teams in the nation: North Florida (27), Middle Tennessee State (32), Texas-Arlington (57), Wichita State (59), UCF (63) and South Alabama (75).
