Golfers Finish 11th at Mission Inn Spring Spectacular

HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. -- Marquette University placed 11th out of 18 teams at the Mission Inn Spring Spectacular after posting a final round 306 Sunday at the par-72 Las Colinas Golf Course. MU finished with a three-round total of 918, one stroke behind Hartford (10th place) and just two strokes behind ninth-place Towson. The Golden Eagles, who opened with scores of 310 and 302 on Saturday, placed ahead of fellow BIG EAST schools UConn (T12th place) and Rutgers (18th place). Freshman Zach Gaugert was Marquette’s top individual performer coming into the clubhouse tied for 32nd place following a third-round 76. Gaugert finished at 225 for the tournament, which included rounds of 74 and 75, respectively, on Saturday. Junior Corey Konieczki had the team’s low round Sunday with a 2-over-par 74, also matching the team’s low round for the tournament. Indiana (869) took home the team title, while Georgia State’s Jonathan Grey captured individual medalist honors after closing with a 5-under 67, helping the Bulldogs to a fourth-place showing overall.
