STANFORD, California - Marquette made a three-spot jump on the team leaderboard to a tie for 12th place, while Oliver Farrell shot a 1-over-par 71 to move up 33 places to a tie for 30th after two rounds at The Goodwin at Stanford University G.C. on Friday.
Marquette made its move by shooting 293 as part of the second group in the 24-team, 126-man field - the second wave faced 15 mph winds throughout the afternoon. MU (298-293—591) is in a three-way tie with Cal Poly and 28th-ranked Pepperdine for 12th.
After making a seven on the par-4 No. 5, Farrell posted three birdies on the final 13 holes as part of a 2-under-par finish to close out his second round 71. Farrell has a 6-over-par 146 (75-71) in the event. Freshman Matt Murlick (70-76—146) is tied with Farrell in 31st - he shot a 76 on Friday. Henry Klongland (79-72–151) closed his round with 11 straight pars to shoot 72.
Final round play takes place on Saturday.
