AUGUSTA, Ga. — Matt Murlick shot a final round 70 to finish with a 1-over-par 217 (74-73-70) and tie for 30th place, leading Marquette to a 13th-place finish (289-293-292—874) at the 3M Augusta Invitational at Forest Hills G.C.
Murlick matched Marquette’s low round of the tournament with his 2-under-par day on the Par 72, 7,005-yard course. Teeing off on No. 10, Murlick made four birdies in his first nine holes to get off to a quick start. He finished the tournament with pars on 39 of 54 holes, fifth-most in the 75-player field.
Only 12 strokes separated the top 31 players in the field. Dylan Meyer (11-under-par) of Illinois was the individual medalist while the Fighting Illini were tournament winners with a 25-under-par 839.
The Golden Eagles are off until the Hawkeye Invitational, hosted by Iowa, April 14-15.
