Day 2 Results
EL MACERO, California -- Junior Nick Nelson posted three birdies on the back nine en route to his second sub-par round (71) at the El Macero Classic, hosted by UC Davis, helping Marquette to a second place tie through 36 holes.
With a second round score of 577 (281-296), MU is tied with Sacramento State. Host UC Davis remains the tournament leader at 8-under-par (568), nine shots ahead of the Golden Eagles and Hornets.
Nelson continued his consistent tournament play and sits in fourth place at 3-under-par (70-71--139), eight strokes behind leader Luke Vivolo of UC Davis. Nelson was in a four-way tie for fourth following the opening round. Highlighting his second round was a birdie on the 18th hole that dropped his score back under par to finish the day.
Freshman Trevor Thomas is in a four-way tie for sixth at 1-under-par (70-73--143). After going out at 3-over, Thomas played par and birdie golf on the back nine to come in at 34 and wrap up his second round.
